May 2012 – Performance Sportswear Design level 3  “One World” sustainable deluxe snow wear – graduation collection Winner Performance Sportswear Design Award by Nike, judged by Nike innovation teammember James Kamo

I like to design garments that have a lot of details. Combined with my affection for winter sports there is simply no other option than to design a collection of snow wear for my final project as a Performance Sportswear Design student. The collection is called “One World”  and is a deluxe sustainable snow wear collection. Each garment is inspired by different continents telling the story of “One World” .

“One World” comes from a rapport of the UN which states that if every person would live like the average North American citizen we would need five planet Earths to provide our needs.

All we have is “One World”

With this collection I would like to show that being sustainable does not mean garments have to look like they are “eco”, they can be any design and any colour. This collection is looking at different ways of sustainable fashion from starting at the beginning with ordering the right fabrics, thanks to my sponsors “Schoeller” and “Polartec”, using recycled crisp bags to zero waste pattern cutting, without losing focus on the functions and the aesthetics of these garments.

Compared to other brands that are selling similar products “One World” will have a more appealing aesthetic, by a different design and with the use of colour and print. It is technical, comfortable and good looking, with a conscience.
